How does Botox work?

Botulinum toxin type A is a neurotoxin protein. It works by blocking the release of a chemical, acetylcholine, which is responsible for the contraction of muscles, leading to a temporary and gradual reversible paralysis.

Are there different types of Botulinum Toxin type A?

There are three types of Botulinum toxin type A (Botox, Xeomin, Azzalure). At Face Perfect Clinic in Leeds, we use genuine Botox which is manufactured by Allergan, a world leader in surgical and non-surgical cosmetic treatments.

The treatment Procedure using Botox

Botox injections are a non-surgical treatment. A face-to-face consultation prior to treatment will be arranged. During treatment the practitioner will inject small amounts of Botox into the face, targeting specific muscles, to temporarily reduce or eliminate wrinkles.

The client is provided with written and verbal aftercare advice and a review appointment is arranged for 2 weeks following the treatment.

When will I see the results from my Botox Treatment?

It can take 2-14 days for Botox to take full effect.

Are there any side effects of treatment with Botox?

There are potential side effects such as bruising, headache, redness, swelling, and pain at the injection site but usually resolve within a few days.
