What is an Obagi Skin Peel?

Obagi Nu-Derm is the gold standard of chemical peels.

They are prescription strength products regulated by the US FDA. These products are tailored to each client’s individual skin concerns and needs. Cosmetic products do not correct skin cells, they mask the damaged skin on the surface which is a temporary period, unlike Obagi Nu-Derm which works on a cellular level.

Indications for Obagi Nu-Derm

• Dull and uneven skin colour
• Spots
• Hyperpigmentation
• Acne
• Acne scarring
• Fine lines and wrinkles

What does the Obagi Nu-Derm system involve?

This is an 18-24 week programme. You are given the starter kit which contains 8 products.

These are listed below…

1. foaming gel cleanser
2. toner
3. clear
4. Exfoderm
5. Blender and tretinoin
6. Hydrate
7. Sunscreen

These products contain 4% hydroquinone which corrects uneven skin colour and spots and lightens areas of darkened skin, glycolic /phytic, and lactic acid which exfoliates the skin, retinoic acid which stimulates the renewal of healthy skin cells.

Your practitioner will provide you with a skincare protocol that you must follow to ensure optimal results and will advise you on how to use the above products. You will be reviewed throughout this period to check and monitor your treatment.

When will you start to see results?

• Refined texture and tone – 1-3 weeks
• Change in pigmentation – 2-4 weeks, (may get darker before lightening occurs, visible lightening may take 2 or more skin cycles 4-6 months)
• Decrease in laxity/wrinkles 12-16 weeks
• Reduction of acne flares 6-12 weeks, may get acne breakout as part of the reaction phase

What will happen to my skin whilst using Obagi Nu-Derm system

Your skin will become red and start to peel. The peeling can last up to 6 weeks. After this time the skin will feel tight and may look red in colour.
